He established the Safety Molecular Pathology Lab to provide access and affordability to millions of Nigerians who require DNA-based testing.
SMPL is built on a tripod of Diagnostics, Training and Research.

Safety Molecular Pathology Laboratory is located at Plot 44 Rangers Avenue, Independence Layout, Enugu with 7 branches in Nigeria. It offers a wide range of routine and specialist laboratory testing services. The company offers over 460 different tests including viral load testing for Hepatitis B, C, HIV; HLA typing, human identity testing, paternity testing, hormonal assays, autoimmune disease testing; liver function, thyroid function, comprehensive metabolic panel, microbiology and hematological tests. It is the only Centre in Nigeria that offers a HLA typing in- country. Currently, SMPL offers testing services to about 32 States in Nigeria.
The company was incorporated in 2009 but commenced operations in 2010. It is accredited by the Medical laboratory Sciences and Technology council of Nigeria, the body responsible for regulation of medical laboratory sciences’ practice in Nigeria.
Its central vision is to improve healthcare quality and environmental safety in Nigeria through affordable and reliable diagnostic technologies.
It focuses on molecular diagnostics, medical laboratory testing, environmental diagnostics, and point-of-care testing and biomedical research. It has three main divisions: diagnostics, research and training. The diagnostics unit provides a lot of molecular (DNA based) tests to many hospitals and patients across the nation. The research unit handles contract research and academic research projects. The training unit offers a lot of training in molecular diagnostics, biostatistics and laboratory management. In the last 5 years, over 26 PhD research projects, 11 Fellowship of the National and West African College of Medicine, 32 MSc and 5 Contract Research testing projects were successfully completed in the lab. The lab has offered over 32 training programmes since inception. Currently the lab receives over 5000 patients per annum.
